A delegation from Boeing visited Alfaisal University and met with College of Engineering Boeing project supervisors and students to oversee latest developments in the Solar Drone and Solar Car projects. Heading the Boeing delegation was Director of Global Research and Technology Dr. William Lions along with Engineers Juan Carloss Campell, Majed Alharbi, and Anees Abdullah. The delegation was welcomed by AU President Prof. Mohammad Al Hayazaa, and followed by a meeting that was led by office of research VP Dr. Yousef Alyousef, associate VP Dr. Matheus Goosen, and CoE Dean Dr. Muhammad Anan.


A presentation on the timeline and accomplishments of the Boeing Solar Drone project was given by Dr. Abdel Hamid Taha the project supervisor, followed by a presentation on the Boeing Solar Car project and its development by Dr. Ahmed Oteafy and the team members including student team leader Habib Farooq. These presentations included the design of the modules, the challenges encountered, and demonstration videos of the working prototypes. The Boeing delegation commended the supervisors and students dedication and energy and the achievements of these projects. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining these projects and their development at the College of Engineering. Future collaboration was discussed in building upon the success of the Boeing funding of student projects..

The meetings were followed by a public seminar on the developments and future directions of Boeing in its second century given by Dr. Lions who also referenced the importance of discipline with innovation in companies and universities as demonstrated by the project presentations he had witnessed earlier in the day.
